Biography

Olli Martin has performed across the U.K and Europe with artists and ensembles including the BBC Big Band, Cory Wong, Nikki Iles, Stan Sulzmann, Gareth Lockrane, Sam Greenfield, Laura Jurd, Tom Smith, Billy Marrows, the Australian Pink Floyd Show, Urban Soul Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia. 

Olli’s versatile trombone playing encompasses early jazz, swing and contemporary big bands, small band jazz, improvisation, brass bands, salsa, and funk. Taking him from theatre pits, to recording studios, jazz clubs, festivals, concert halls and to football stadiums (Saints Brass).

He is a graduate of the BMus jazz course at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music where he studied with  Gordon Campbell, Mark Bassey, Trevor Mires, Barnaby Dickinson, Nick Smart, Pete Churchill and Barak Schmool. 

Whilst studying, Olli won the British Trombone Society Don Lusher Jazz Trombone Competition in November 2016. He also formed the Olli Martin Quintet at this time, which performs his original compositions. 

Alongside his wide-ranging performance work, Olli is an experienced educator having taught at Southampton University and several schools and holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music.
